Ski Retreat

Ski Retreat. I'm going to use the way over-used word to describe retreats. AMAZING. I guess I could even go so far and call it undescribeable. So this was my first ski retreat, in my first year at Vertical Impact. For those of you who don't know about ski retreat and didn't go on it; we basically wake up, ski, hang out, worship, sleep, wake up, ski, hang out, and worship. And yes, the worship on ski retreat is very powerful. Someone pointed out in a lesson that the reason the worship is so powerful is because we are away from home, and we have no worries. This is exactly why worship is so amazing during retreat. Drew delivered an awesome lesson the last night, and the band rocked the house. This was my first time singing on a retreat, as well as stephanie, and sam playing. We sounded great. I loved going down the double black diamond "powerline glade" and going off ramps :) (Good times Karyn and James). Whether it be rocking out it fast worship, connecting with God during slow, eating gelato at the ski lodge, jumping off ski ramps or riding ski lifts, everyone; veterans or new kids, all seemed to be having fun. Thats the beauty of VI; everyone accepts everyone, and new kids aren't so new by the end of the two days. And everyone knows from the last lesson, it's never too late for a fresh start. And remember no mastter what you've done, God's there to forgive you.Ski Retreat was the perfect time to start over, get away from everything, and reflect on everything. I could see God in everything and everyone; from the slow worship, the amazing lessons, the amazing mountain views, just everything. I even felt God come inside of me this trip. Upon coming home I just wanted to take time and reflect on everything. What would I do without VI. Seriously, it's beyond me how I spent 14 years of my life without this amazing group of peopleexpending their relationships with God, and I have no idea what I would do without you guys. I can't wait till next year! And MOST IMPORTANTLY... no one got hurt. From what I've heard, someone gets hurt each year, but this year, God graced us with no injuries. And I am feeling the "post- ski retreat depression that everyone gets. :(

Love you guys and see you this and every wednesday,
-Alex
